A Danish-produced spreadable Jersey butter is hoping to secure listings in UK supermarkets.
The organic mixture of Jersey butter and rapeseed oil is already sold in Denmark by Thise Dairy.
The product has already been presented to two UK supermarket chains, Thise said, though it wouldn't be drawn on whether the product would be branded or own-label.
Previous attempts by Thise to service the British market have been unsuccessful as its products were up against campaigns urging consumers to buy British, claimed Thise sales manager Mogens Poulsen. "But we consider ourselves to be Vikings so we have come back."
Potential plans to market the product as Jersey butter could be scuppered if a current PDO application to limit the term to Jersey producers is successful.
Thise already sells a number of 'Jersey' products in Denmark, including four types of Jersey milk.
