The Thai brand hopes the new 25g bag, which comes in Oriental Soy, Teriyaki and Sweet Chilli flavours, will prove popular with what it says is a growing sector of people who are replacing regular meals with smaller, more frequent snacks.
It comes as sales of rice crackers, which include Go Ahead! and Jacob’s Thai Bites, declined by 1.7% year- on-year [ACNielsen Scantrack February 19, 2005].
This has been blamed by some on lack of shelf space and a switch back to more traditional products.
Blue Dragon said its 25g Rice Bites would help meet demand for healthy snacks. The product has an rsp of 35p.
