Guilty shopkeepers are being given the chance to atone for their crime of handling stolen property. British Bakeries has joined up with children's charity NCH to launch a three month amnesty when it will donate £1 for every returned bread basket, and has roped in TV newsman Alastair Stewart to highlight the initiative. It says a staggering 600,000 baskets aren't returned to British Bakeries annually (1,650 a day), and reckons that if the number of bread baskets not returned to British Bakeries each day were stacked on top of each other, they would create a tower higher than Canary Wharf. {{COUNTERPOINT }}
