Concerns that soaring demand for Prosecco will outstrip supply haven’t stopped Brits from knocking back the bubbles.
Sales of the Italian fizz are continuing to soar. Value has risen 29.5%, adding £66.3m to category value over the past year alone [Kantar Worldpanel 52 w/e 19 June 2016]. Other sparkling wines are doing well too. Champagne sales are up 7.4%, while Cava has enjoyed 7.9% growth in the past year.
“Prosecco continues to be a shining light in the category,” said Andy Crossan, consumer insight director at Kantar Worldpanel. “Growth figures are way ahead of the rest of the market, and penetration is at an all-time high of 26.2%.”
