Sales of premium wine have grown 50% in Tesco over the past 12 months - driven by an overhaul of its Fine Wine offering.

Last June, Tesco changed the name of its premium offering - previously The Collection - to Fine Wine and updated signage to help shoppers navigate the range and keep them informed of wines available online.

The figures indicated a growing number of its customers were prepared to pay for top-quality wine priced between £15 and £30, said Laura Jewell MW, fine wine product development manager for Tesco.

“The selection will be refreshed every few months to encourage these customers to continue to trade up and experiment,” she added.
