Foods free from common allergens such as nuts and milk will soon be able to carry a logo indicating to sufferers of intolerances a product is safe for them.

Suppliers and retailers will be able to use the logo if they have been certified against a standard developed by the Anaphylaxis Campaign. A course for food company staff and auditors is being set up, with certification due to begin in the spring. Forty-five companies across the UK have already signed up.
