HJ Heinz Company has parachuted in an American to replace Stefan Barden, who has been MD of Heinz UK & Ireland since September 2003.
Jane Miller has been chief growth officer at the Heinz world headquarters in Pittsburgh since last year and has been in food industry management for 17 years.
She has previously held senior roles with PepsiCo and Bestfoods and has a degree in Russian studies.
Barden has been moved to a new assignment in Heinz, focusing on strategy, and he will report directly to Joe Jimenez, president and CEO of Europe. When Barden was appointed MD, following a
shake-up of the board, he was hailed as the new face of Heinz.
His major projects included the introduction of customised ranges and pack sizes for convenience retailers and the launch of a nutritional policy to reduce salt content in all products.
