Chilean winery Anakena is targeting independents in a bid for further UK growth, and has announced the first in a series of activities to engage retailers.

The winery is offering a trip to Chile to the operator achieving the greatest sales increase during a three-month promotion, starting on Wednesday.

During the promotion, independent wine retailers, wholesalers and restaurants will receive an extensive support package to drive sales, including price discounts and tastings. Marketing and PoS materials will include posters, neck tags, shelf-talkers, aprons, tent cards and brochures.

Top prize in the promotion will go to the independent with the best combination of sales growth, promotional activity and use of PoS material.

Raúl Beckdorf, Anakena's commercial manager, said: "Supporting independents remains a priority for us and this is one of a number of initiatives we have planned to support the sector."
