The first Pembrokeshire potatoes hit Tesco’s Welsh stores this week. The produce, available in six stores in South Wales, is being supported by promotional material in store and sampling.
Roy Maynard, senior buyer, said the retailer was looking to build sales of Pembrokeshire potatoes in Wales with customers keen to buy locally produced food.
“Our Pembrokeshire potato suppliers are already doing an excellent job and we are supporting them strongly, with the aid of our partner Branston.”
He said they were following the same model as they had in Cornwall, which had seen a big uplift in sales of locally produced potatoes.
