Marks and Spencer has launched a Pink Lady traypack which holds eight slightly smaller sized fruit than the traditional four-pack, but at the same price of £1.99. Trade sources report it has been an immediate success. The move indicates the increasing volume of this premium priced variety from a widening range of sources since it was discovered in Australia. In this case it was grown in South Africa, which this year is expected to ship over 250,000 cartons to the UK. Based on the current orchard census, SA exports will rise to more than 500,000 cartons in the next three years. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
