Cameo, a chance apple seedling found in Washington state and now being grown in the UK, will be used for test marketing trials this year for the first time. This is because by next year the first commercial quantities will become available. The majority appear already to be bound for the multiple trade. Nurseryman Bruno Essner of Pepiniers du Valois, which holds the European agency, believes it could expand to take a sizeable share of future sales. This season a further 50 hectares have been planted between the UK and France whose growers are members of the Cameo Club which exchanges production and crop information. Kent tree supplier John Breach has even called this "the one bright star on the horizon for the English industry". {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
