Imports of Pink Lady from the southern hemisphere to the UK are projected to increase by 60% this summer to around 600,000 cartons, according to Gordon Winterbottom, md of Coregeo, the licensing organisation. "Due to generally much improved growing conditions in all areas, Pink Lady should be better than ever with good strong colouration and a superb fizzy' flavour," he added. "There will also be a programme of multiple retail based promotion activity." The first containers from Australia and New Zealand are already on the water and due to arrive at the end of the month. Chile and other South American countries will follow on in June. Winterbottom also added that because of consumer demand, winter sales had risen 72% in volume. {{M/E FRESH PRODUCE }}
