Islay malt Ardbeg has released its Almost There nine year-old whisky - the third in its Path to Peaty Maturity range.
Brand owners, The Glenmorangie Company, launched the range with Very Young - a six-year-old malt in 2004 and added Still Young - an eight year-old, last year. Next year, a fourth and final 10-year-old malt will be added.
"Almost There is the final opportunity to track the process of Ardbeg as it continues to develop," said Dr Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg master distiller.
The company, which bought the distillery in 1997, plans to accelerate growth, as more whisky becomes available. "We are a 35,000-case-a-year brand and plan to take that to about 100,000 cases in the next 12 years," said Hamish Torrie, Ardbeg brand equity champion.
New launches later this year and more marketing activity are also planned. Almost There is available in Oddbins and independent retailers, priced at £31.99.
