Yakult's global roll-out has continued into Argentina. The Japanese maker of the fermented milk drink, Yakult Honsha of Tokyo, has set up a joint operation in Buenos Aires with Yakult S/A Ind. E Com of Brazil. The company's expansion in South America has been helped by the establishment of a free trade area covering Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile. This covers a population of 200 million. The group began exporting in the 1960s to south-east Asia, Australia, Central and South America, and launched in Europe in 1994.
