Arla Foods is considering launching a major new Indian dairy brand for the convenience retail trade in the UK.

Leaflets advertising Savera were distributed at this week's National Convenience Show. The leaflets state: "Savera is the only range of Indian dairy products that is fresh and authentic, because only Savera is made to authentic Indian recipes."

An Arla spokeswoman insisted there no definite plans to launch at this stage, claiming it was just "gauging interest and testing the concept of how this could potentially be received."

The leaflets show a six-strong range: traditional raita (£1.26/250g tub), natural dahi (£1.17/500g pot), sweet lassi with fragrant cardamom (£1.29/250g bottle), alfonso mango lassi (£1.29/250g bottle) and traditional paneer (£1.95/225g pack).
