Wine and Armagnac producer Château du Tariquet has launched a range of Armagnacs to challenge consumer perceptions of the category.

Colour Collection - three Bas-Armagnacs with varying ages - is presented to educate the consumer through a style that resembles whisky packaging. This includes details of grape varieties, length of ageing and different oak barrel toasting. 'Bas' refers to one of the three sub-regions of production in Armagnac.

"Armagnac is not that dissimilar to a malt whisky," said a spokeswoman. "It therefore makes perfect sense to clearly show and educate the consumer that, even though Armagnac falls into the brandy category, traditionally served as a digestif, it can also be enjoyed as an apéritif in the same way as one would savour a malt whisky."

The range comprises Bas-Armagnac 8-year-old, a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old, also available as a gift-pack.
