Asda picked up retailer of the year and best added value product accolades at this week’s British Turkey Awards, which were presented at Claridge’s in London.
Asda was recognised as overall winner, praised for its wide range and proactive stance in promoting British Turkey.
Waitrose won best whole product category with its free range Lincolnshire turkey and also the award for best ready-to-eat product with its free-range handcarved roast turkey breast.
Marks & Spencer scored a first win in the best added value product - Christmas category, with its Ultimate Turkey oven ready whole fresh turkey with bacon garnish.
Asda’s best added-value product was orange and ginger turkey stir fry.
Completing the retail winner line up was Sainsbury, awarded best barbecue product for its turkey and roast pepper kebabs with Chinese Drizzle.
Additional winners included Bernard Matthews’ Tikka Turkey Marinades - best branded category; Kelly Bronze Turkey Crown - best primary cuts; and (joint) Shropshire Spice Gourmet Orange and Cranberry Stuffing and Ocean Spray Premium Chilled Cranberry Sauce - Best Accompaniment.
Best butcher of the year went to Byford’s Food Hall of Essex.
