Asda has signed a two-year deal with Dairy Crest to buy cheese from its Aspatria dairy and hold prices for at least six months at a time.

The move follows Asda's recent call to End The Cheddar Lottery and it is calling on others to follow suit by supporting British farmers.

The NFU's chief dairy adviser Tom Hind welcomed the commitment to farmers. "However, there is still much more to do and we would encourage all retailers to build relationships like this."
