Asda will announce a management reshuffle today, with COO Judith McKenna moving to a new role with parent company Walmart.
It is understood that McKenna will take up a strategic role the world’s largest retailer, based in the US.
Asda is expected to confirm the appointment early this afternoon.
McKenna took over from Simon King as COO In July 2011, after 15 years at Asda.
She presided over the successful conversion of 147 Netto stores and has recently been responsible for Asda’s drive towards multichannel retailing.
McKenna has been widely tipped to succeed Andy Clarke as Asda CEO, although industry speculation has been rife for months that Walmart would appoint her to a role before then.
