Asda has started selling several new lines of cakes across Scotland after a £150,000 deal with an independent Glasgow-based baker.
The partnership deal will see Cake bakery, headed up by husband and wife team Sam and Barbara Henderson, produce peppermint, caramel and Belgian chocolate fingers, puff candy crunches, chocolate crispy squares and white chocolate raspberry fingers for the retailer.
“The Meet the Buyer events are a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best in local produce and they have given us an exciting new opportunity after meeting the guys at Cake,” said Lorna Murray, Asda’s local sourcing and technical manager.
“It’s our team’s top priority to get out and meet with as many local suppliers and producers across Scotland.”
The products will be stocked in 48 stores across Scotland, in packs of three or five, and will be running on promotion at £1 per pack (normally £1.40) from 19-31 October.
