The deadly avian flu virus H5N1 has been confirmed at a second site in Norfolk.

All turkeys at the site, which is close to the original outbreak at a farm on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, were culled last week as “a slaughter on suspicion of avian influenza”.

“On clinical inspection the flock appeared healthy which indicates the infection was in its early stages,” Defra said. A three kilometre protection zone and a 10 kilometre surveillance zone have been placed around the site.
