Smoked salmon producer Salar Smokehouse and haggis maker Macsween of Edinburgh each picked up two awards at the 2009 Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards sponsored by The Grocer.

Salar took home the Fish & Seafood retail category award and the Product of the Year award for its flaky smoked salmon.

Macsween picked up the awards for Business of the Year and Environmental Sustainability.

"People talk about corporate social responsibility, but for me it's a given," said Macsween marketing director Jo Macsween.

Other winners included Summer Harvest, Border Biscuits, Simon Howie Butchers, Berry Good, Angus Soft Fruits and Graham's The Family Dairy.

"These awards are a true measure of the excellence that abounds in our industry," said Scotland Food and Drink chief executive Paul McLaughlin.
