Bart Spices is taking on Dr Oetker with a new venture to capitalise on "dramatic growth" in the home-baking market.

The herb and spice specialist launched a six-strong range of home-baking ingredients this week, with more NPD planned throughout the year. The products, which include Mini Marshmallows and Jelly Diamonds (rsp: between 89p and £2.49) are available now in delis and independent stores, although Bart is in discussion with the multiples for listings.

The move is part of a long-term plan to grow the £15m business by 15% a year.

"We see this as our big launch into home-baking," said Kelly Field, NPD and marketing director at Bart. "Those consumers who regularly buy our herbs and spices are generally scratch cooks who will now be able to source home-baking ingredients from a brand they already love."
