Bath Ales has opened a new plant and revealed ambitions to double its volumes in the next two years.
The brewer which sells beers nationally through Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado, and regionally through Tesco and Morrisons said the facility on the outskirts of Bristol would help it expand capacity from its current 18,000 barrels a year. The Bath Ales range includes 4.8% abv premium amber ale Gem, 4.5% abv bitter Barnstormer and 4.4% abv light ale Golden Hare.
The company has moved its transport and logistics team to the new site, which is four times larger than its current HQ in Warmsley, Bristol, and plans to build a brewhouse there in the next 18 months.
The brewer, which is benefiting from burgeoning consumer interest in craft beers, said the investment would allow it to develop “different and interesting” products.
