Designed for independents, the product is packaged in a way intended to appeal to consumers outside the traditional male market.
The launch is part of a drive by Becketts to grow its presence in the retail sector. Some 90% of its business is currently focused in foodservice.
Just Bacon was originally introduced in March, but packaging problems meant Becketts had to withdraw it from the market.
“Customer response was healthy at launch but our
packaging just wasn’t co-operating,” explained marketing director Becky Cornes.
“We have now corrected the film problem and are on track to exploit the steady increase of prepack purchasing to the currently untapped female and young adult market.”
Just Bacon is currently running on a trial basis in a chain of retailers on the Isle of Man. It will be available through wholesalers in 200g, 400g and 454g packs.
