David Beckham’s first foray into food has hit the rocks after the company responsible for producing his frozen food range went into administration.

The GO3 range of healthy frozen meals and fish fingers is fronted by Beckham, who also owns a substantial stake in GO3. The range was produced by Newcastle Productions - a subsidiary of Findus UK and sole manufacturer of Findus in the UK - which entered administration last week.

A spokeswoman for the Beckham brand emphasised GO3 was independent of Newcastle Productions, continued to trade and was “actively pursuing” alternative producers for the affected lines. Meanwhile, Foodvest, which owns the licence for the Findus brand, which includes Jean- Christophe Novelli’s fast-selling premium frozen ready meals, was keeping tightlipped on its plans but said it would not consider selling the UK licence to any third party.
