Approval by EU scientists for exports of bone-in British veal was greeted by some producers' leaders as a dramatic breakthrough, but dismissed by MLC and MAFF sources as almost meaningless and certainly not a sign the ban on bone-in mature beef exports would soon be lifted. Veal is of negligible significance to this country's industry or domestic market, but the rules limiting beef exports to boneless meat are a severe handicap for the two processors trying to rebuild overseas sales. {{MEAT }}
