The innovative German wine brand The Bend in the River has become a casualty of the strategic review being carried out on the First Drinks Brands portfolio under new md Chris Mason. The range got a major boost 12 months ago when it took on the marketing and distribution of Grants blended whisky. Recently it has taken on Mateus Rosé from parent company Bacardi-Martini and the Italian liqueur Disaronno Amaretto from UDV. The German wine is a premium quality Rivaner Riesling which broke the mould of wine packaging when it was introduced in 1997. It was created by Germany's largest importer of wines to the UK, Reh Kendermann. Its other wines in this country are handled by the Matthew Clark subsidiary Grants of St James's. Bend in the River will now join them. {{DRINKS }}
