Bernard Matthews is to supply 1,000 tonnes of fresh turkey breast to its German sister company after two new contract wins.

BM Oldenburg has secured an estimated 4.5m deal with two retail chains. The Norfolk turkey will be used to supply the retailers with marinated turkey steaks for barbecuing.

To fulfil the contract, Bernard Matthews became the first UK company to achieve the German QS Test Mark after successfully passing an audit, said UK MD Jeff Halliwell.

"We are delighted with this opportunity to supply high-quality British turkey to the European market."
