Cash & carry giant Bestway has expanded its presence in non-food with a gardening offer for independent retailers.

The 30-product range includes protective gloves, hosepipes, trowels, watering cans, secateurs and hanging basket brackets. They have a profit on return of more than 30% and are available in all depots.

“This extension into gardening items is a further indication of how Bestway is helping its customers to extend their offering to customers and not to rely entirely on grocery,” said Bestway non-foods senior negotiator Salim Setra.

“I know our independent retailer customers will find them a good addition to what they can offer their customers during the summer months.”

The range is the latest move by the wholesaler to extend its non-food reach. It has already launched a 100-strong range of Jubilee-themed goods, a Mother’s Day offer of 26 products, and 30 Easter-related products this year.

Their rollout followed double-digit sales growth from a 20-strong ‘winter warmers’ range of hats, scarves and gloves, as well as Royal Wedding products last year.
