Scottish bottler and blender Douglas Laing & Co has revealed ambitious off-trade plans to double sales of its Big Peat malt whisky.

The malt (rsp: £39) was launched a year ago into the on-trade and specialist whisky stores but the company believes its award-winning quality credentials and unconventional pack design will make it a hit in the multiples.

The Glasgow-based family company expects sales of Big Peat to double next year as a result of the planned increase in distribution but would not reveal current sales figures.

Company director Fred Laing said Big Peat would benefit from in-store tastings along with new PoS branding and a print ad campaign next year.

"Big Peat is unlike anything else out there and our aim is to double sales by consolidation in existing markets and expanding into wider retail over the next 12 months," said Laing.
