Birds Eye is doubling the Pub Specials premium ready meals range, launched in March, with four additional recipes.

The range will get its first two fish-based products, in the form of salmon & broccoli and smoked haddock & leek fish cakes, as well as two puff pastry-topped meat pies in steak & peppercorn and chicken, bacon & leek variants. The Pub Specials range is developed in partnership with Paul Yaxley, a top chef at the Fox & Goose Inn in Suffolk.

Each pub-inspired product uses high-quality ingredients and carries a slight premium price tag. The pies come in 400g servings with an rsp of £2.29 while the fish cakes come in 160g packs of two for £1.49.

Existing products in the range include Cumberland meatballs, white wine chicken breast and tender braised beef.

"The new additions will help create stronger standout on shelf and drive footfall in the frozen aisle," said frozen food category director John Farrell.
