Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King are the inspiration behind a new range of takeaway-style frozen food from Birds Eye.
The manufacturer’s frozen Takeaway range, launching in September, is based on popular lines from the fast food giants and comprises Southern Fried Chicken Wings, Southern Fried Combo Box, Hot and Spicy Burgers and Classic Crumb Goujons (rsp: £1.59 - £4.99).
Birds Eye expects the new range to “significantly” boost sales in the £56m frozen takeaway sector (Nielsen) which, brand manager Kate Jackson said was currently occupied by small budget brands.
“Takeaway provides ultimate convenience to consumers, as the products can be cooked in less time than it takes to go and pick up takeaway, while delivering the high quality taste that consumers expect from takeaway poultry and burgers,” she said.
Birds Eye expects the launch to emulate the success of its Reggae Reggae Chicken Chargrills, which has achieved £1.5m sales since its launch three months ago.
