Birds Eye is failing to address the issue of illegal cod fishing, according to an enviromental pressure group.

Greenpeace wants the brand, which is being sold to Permira by Unilever, to condemn pirate fishing.

A spokesman said efforts to get Iglo and Birds Eye to make a public statement had proved fruitless, prompting the launch of an e-mail campaign. Unilever said it was "disappointed" as it was leading the fight against ­pirate fishing.
