Oriental food specialist Blue Dragon is bringing out a range of Oriental vegetables in clear pouches that can be added straight to the wok to create stir-fry meals.

The three-strong collection is aimed at fulfilling demand for traditional ingredients and accompaniments in a convenient format, and is targeted at the increasing number of smaller households

Rolling out now and retailing at 79p for 250g, the Sliced Bamboo Shoots, Baby Sweetcorn and Whole Water Chestnut offerings come vacuum-packed in plain or lightly salted water in display-ready trays.

Each variety can be boiled or served raw in a salad as well as stir-fried.

The idea is to encourage consumers to keep them as a cupboard ingredient.

Brand manager Alison Burnside said the see-through packaging aimed to capture attention on shelf because the products looked “fresh, crisp and appetising”.
