It was hard to imagine tough, kilt-wearing Scotsmen approving of the seasonal push from Robert Burns Malt whisky this year.

The company decided to push its latest creation, the stupidly-named “Burnito cocktail”, for those “not keen on the neat stuff”.

Based on the mojito, the appalling concoction contains such wimpy ingredients as ginger ale, lime and even - for the love of Groundskeeper Willie! - mint leaves.

A bottle of whisky to the reader with a better idea for a Burns cocktail.
