‘Edible architecture’ is a satisfying brief not just for our nation’s eccentric cakemakers, but also its hardworking punsmiths.

So Pastry Paradise - an exhibition curated by artist Miss Cakehead in (where else?) Shoreditch - provided excellent fodder. Exhibits included the ‘London Pie’, the ‘Battenberg Gate’ and (less impressively) the ‘Empire Cake Building’.

Our favourite - as you can see - was the simple, effective and delicious ‘Trifle Tower’. Parfait!
