Food waste is quite an issue these days, and Bogof has been moved by an artistic and efficient solution from Vienna.

The Vegetable Orchestra, as you might expect, is a collective of musicians who fashion their instruments from fresh vegetables.

Ingeniously crafted devices include the pumpkin drum, carrot marimba and the ‘leek zucchini vibrator’ (which hints at another use for unwanted veg).

The orchestra play a feast of musical styles, though they spend most of their time making new instruments, as the veg tends to go off after each performance.

This might not sound like the most ethically responsible use of food, but the 10-piece make the offcuts from their instruments into a lovely big stew for their audiences to enjoy - meaning a trip to see them is nourishing for both mind and body. And you can’t say that about Stomp.
