Competition on all of the charts is becoming increasingly close, with the gap between the top and bottom chart positions narrowing over the past few weeks. The bottom of the brand chart is totally dominated by new entries, among them Sharwood's and Double Velvet. Cadbury's returns to the top of the chart pushing Heinz down into second place. Yet again alcoholic drinks secures first place in the category chart, although there is no specific brand to support it. The diversity of brands on promotion, particularly beers and lagers, assures the category another week at the top. Safeway rises to the top of the fascia chart with Sainsbury dropping to number two. The activity in Sainsbury is of particular note since 50% of the promotions were buy one get one free offers and other multibuy offers constituted a further 25% of the promotions in store. {{GROCER 33 }}
