One Direction Advent calendars have been delayed

Fears that thousands of Advent calendars will not be available in stores until the final week of November look set to be realised.

The Grocer revealed two weeks ago Advent calendars manufactured by Wales-based confectioner Bon Bon Buddies would not be delivered until the final week of November, following manufacturing problems.

At the time, Bon Bon Buddies, which holds the licences for One Direction, Doctor Who and Disney Advent calendars, insisted 90% of orders would be delivered from mid to late October with a “small proportion” of orders fulfilled during the first two weeks of November.

However, The Grocer has learned one leading high street retailer has now cancelled an order for tens of thousands of calendars after it claimed that Bon Bon Buddies told them that stock would not be delivered until the last three days of November. Another said it was looking for alternative suppliers after experiencing similar delays.

Bon Bon Buddies MD Chris Howarth said: “We are working around the clock to get orders to the 10% who are affected as quickly as possible, and have agreed individual delivery plans with each and every one.”
