A turnaround in policy could see more promotional cash available for US fruit and veg exporters.
Despite concerns that the US/EU trade conflict over steel would affect other sectors, Ann Veneman, US secretary of agriculture, has promised to explore the possibility of making more marketing funds available under the ongoing TEA scheme.
Representative organisations, such as the Florida Citrus and Washington Apple Commissions, apply to match these funds which are used to boost overseas sales.
Previous government policy has been to reduce the cash available.
