Booths plans to focus on an eclectic mix of products in its alcohol category, with a particular emphasis on smaller producers.

The retailer, which carries more than 230 beers from smaller producers, revealed an array of brews from 18 of the competing World Cup countries earlier this year. Set up by beer buyer Dave Smith, it included beers from South Korea, Portugal and Australia.

At its summer tasting event last week, Booths also displayed a wide selection of ciders, including St Cuby's bottle-conditioned medium dry cider from Cornish Orchards.

Booths' wine buyer Sally Holloway used the event to show the eclectic range of wines she had chosen, which included a selection of organic wines.

"The choice today is very much based on both small and more well-known producers whose wines hopefully show real character and personality in a wine world dominated by brands and international styles," she said.
