Ranjit Boparan has appointed a new managing director to head up Fish Star Fish – just six weeks after saying the role would come under the remit of 2 Sisters boss Eddie Power.
Ellis Ward will now lead Five Star, having previously held the role of agriculture director at 2 Sisters Food Group. He has been with 2 Sisters for more than a decade, holding positions in sales, purchasing and agriculture.
The MD role became vacant following the resignation of Danny Burton.
“[Ward] has got a wealth of food industry expertise to bring to this role,” said a spokeswoman for 2 Sisters.
His appointment comes after Boparan incorporated Five Star Fish into the wider 2 Sisters group, which was previously solely focused on poultry. Five Star was previously part of Boparan Holdings.
“It just makes sense to have all our protein services together under the 2 Sisters portfolio,” the spokeswoman added.
Ward will report into Power, who will remain MD of 2 Sisters.
Five Star is Boparan’s foodservice fish seafood supply hub. Its customers include Morrisons, Iceland and Sainsbury’s as well as a number of leading pub and restaurant chains.
