Wine importer Bottle Green has launched a premium Rhône brand, Palaise des Anciens, to cash in on the growing demand for wine from this region.

The new range was shown at this year's France Under One Roof trade tasting at Lords Cricket Ground on 14 March. The wines, developed with partner Vignobles Du Peloux, aim to target consumers looking for authentically French products.

Wine from the region, which was once sneered at for being cheap, is now the biggest French AOC region in UK multiple grocers. According to Nielsen data, it is benefiting from 12% year-on-year growth.

Bottle Green marketing manager Liam Grant said: "The Rhône's performance in the UK suggests consumers are returning from grape to provenance-based products."

The range includes: Cotes du Rhône (£5.99), Cotes du Rhône Villages (£6.99), Vacqueyras (£8.99), Gigondas (£9.99) and Chateauneuf-du-Pape (£14.99).
