Bottled Coca-Cola has more than twice the carbon footprint of the canned drink, according to figures released by the company this week.

Coca-Cola worked with the Carbon Trust to calculate that a 330ml glass bottle of Coca-Cola had a carbon footprint of 360g, while a 330ml can was responsible for just 170g of emissions. Diet Coke and Coke Zero cans both have a footprint of 150g.

"This has given us insight into where our emissions come from and gives us understanding of what to do to reduce them," said Coca-Cola Enterprises MD Simon Baldry.
