Diversity of products and of winners was the theme of the seventh annual Brammy Awards in conjunction with The Grocer, with 83 products judged. Waitrose came triumphant as the only retailer to win more than one award. Judges for the awards, which recognise outstanding contributions to the Bramley Campaign, included Peter Bazalgette, producer of BBC's Food and Drink, Ian Mitchell, chairman of the Bramley Campaign, Carola Weymouth, cookery editor of Family Circle, and The Grocer's Mary Carmichael. Mitchell said: "The awards recognise the increasing excellence in both fresh and processed Bramley merchandising and innovation." The winners were: - Best retailer: Sainsbury and Waitrose (joint winners) - Best apple juice or drink: Benson's Bramley apple juice - Best apple sauce: Waitrose Bramley apple sauce - Best apple crumble: Tesco - Best apple pie: Somerfield Gold Selection apple and blackberry pie - Best innovative product: Safeway pork & Bramley apple sausages - Best chef of the year: Dominique Fraser - Best food writer of the year: Celia Goodrick-Clarke. {{NEWS }}
