A Scottish meat supplier is undergoing a trial to supply Asda meat counters.
Malcolm Allen is set to start supplying Asda's Livingston store near Edinburgh with Braveheart branded beef.
The processor already supplies the retailer with 19 different meat lines, under the Malcolm Allen brand. Company partner Gordon Allen said the deal was part of the company's moves to establish the Braveheart brand, covered under Quality Meat Scotland's Specially Selected assurance scheme, south of the border.
He said it had recently rebranded its steak burgers as Braveheart in the store and seen sales double.
"The Braveheart brand is far more recognisable as being Scottish," he added.
