A home brew kit manufacturer hopes to cash in on the predicted boom in beer drinking around the World Cup event this summer by offering a cheap alternative to the big brand names.

Beer Be Quick - a 30-pint barrel bag with ready-mixed brewing syrup inside - allows consumers to create their own beer by just adding water.

The £24.99 kit, which has a specially designed tap to allow the pint to be poured straight into a glass, will produce beer drinkable for at least six months, creating pints which work out at 80p each.

Marketing manager Caroline Hoare said: "Home brewing is casting off its student image and coming bang up to date with Beer Be Quick.

"Our research indicates that it is going to be a big year for Beer Be Quick as a new market tries home brew for the first time, attracted by our product's convenience quality and price."
