Craft ales have been making a lot of noise recently - could it now be the turn of craft lager?
That’s the hope of Manchester brewer The Saint Brewing Co, which has spent two years developing Saint, a 4.6% abv lower-carbonated lager pitched at 20-somethings and described as full-tasting without the bloat. Available in 330ml bottles, Saint - which has a ‘distinct sharp citrus taste, floral and soft fruit notes’ - will be stocked in two Manchester bars, The White Room and Dukes92, and other stockists including The Long Bar at the Sanderson Hotel. The company is seeking off-trade listings.
“For the modern drinker, it is our response to the demand for more innovative beers that steer away from the overly gassy and bitter drinks produced by larger brewers. It’s completely new and genuinely British,” said Saint Brewing Co MD Gareth Whittle.
