Consumer enthusiasm for perry has prompted Thatchers to team up with family brewers Hall & Woodhouse to launch new Pearwood Cider.

This week's launch of Pearwood (rsp: £1.75) comes two years after the companies collaborated to create Applewood a regular cider. With big brand launches from Gaymers and Bulmers raising the profile of pear cider, the companies decided to introduce a premium line.

Applewood is aged in oak and made to recipes that have been handed down through four generations of the Thatchers ­family.
